The origins of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS–SGGW) date back to 1816, to the creation of the Institute of Agronomy in Marymont, the first agricultural institution of higher education in Poland and only the fourth one in Europe. Faculty of Forestry alludes its traditions to the Special School of Forestry, established in 1816. It was the first Polish and one of the first world university devoted to forestry.

The University and Faculty have started celebration of their 200th anniversary in 2014. The detailed program of the Faculty celebrations can be found here.
